Why the title "Salty and Sweet"

I was in the grocery store the other day going through the aisles picking up a few things for the next couple of days. I was doing great. In my cart all all types of healthy foods... fresh fruits and vegetables, whole wheat pastas, organic sauces, fish, etc. All was good in my world until, I came to the candy aisle. Normally, I do not crave sweets. I am not a huge chocolate fan.

Wait... wait... wait... before you revoke my Girls club card. I enjoy eating chocolate... milk, dark, with nuts, without... I just do not obsess over it.  That is...until, Mother Nature decides to tap on my shoulder and add her input.  Standing at the end of the aisle... a little voice whispers... "By the way, you might want to pick up a little treat."

I think about and before I know it. I am standing in front of Guiradelli chocolate bars. They look enticing... so, I do the mental math and realize that in the best interest of society. I should probably purchase a bar or 2. So many of us know what it is like to be caught in the throes of a PMS craving empty-handed. Not a good place to be : )

So, now having added the chocolate to my cart, I figure all is well. I walk a little further then, "BAM"... there in front of me is a Lay's potato chip display. Okay, now we know... chocolate is not going to be complete without something salty. It is a "scientific" thing... Goodness, when did PMS cravings start to sound like pregnancy cravings?

Well, I knowing my prior history.  I am not going to be able to leave the store without a bag of chips.  Picking out a bag of Sour Cream and Cheddar Lay's chips, I move on and complete my shopping.

As I am driving home, I smile. I realize a man probably would not understand the need to have chocolate and chips in the house that is not get eaten until a certain time of the month. He probably would not understand the secret code that this posting contains. The kinship of shared experiences that this blog is invoking. His world and thinking still are pretty basic. See the chocolate then, eat the chocolate... why save it.

But, this is the beauty of what I am sharing.  It is a "Girl" thing and in this blog I want to share more "Girl" things. I want to celebrate the fascinating, fun, and some times outrageous things that make us so unique yet sound so familiar.

So in the spirit of sharing, tell me, what tasty treats do you keep in the house?

Have a glorious day.
